Bull announces StoreWay Calypso 9 powered by CommVault
Improved support for virtual environments and source-side deduplication are the key new features delivered through worldwide OEM partnership between CommVault and Bull's StoreWay storage integration division
7, 2010 -
Bull today announced the availability of version 9 of its StoreWay Calypso data management suite, powered by CommVault's award-winning Simpana® software. Available immediately, StoreWay Calypso V9 delivers a raft of new features including strengthened support for virtual environments and universal deduplication.
The accelerating adoption of virtualised IT infrastructures is presenting enterprises with new data management challenges, while sustained growth in data volumes continues to put pressure on IT budgets.
The StoreWay Calypso software platform has been optimised to provide support for thousands of simultaneous Virtual Machines, with Calypso SnapProtect technology providing near-instant backup of hundreds of VMs.
New Source-side deduplication complements the existing hardware independent block-level deduplication to deliver universal deduplication that reduces by up to 90% the data transferred over IT networks and stored on storage devices, slashing both telecommunication and storage costs.
These features are integrated within Calypso's unified data management platform that delivers all major data management functions including data backup & recovery, archiving, tiered storage, replication, storage resource management and search.
"As an integrator of complex and heterogeneous storage environments, StoreWay Calypso plays a key role in our solutions, complementing the underlying storage platform and providing our customers with a modern and unified approach to protecting, optimising and managing their data" says Eric Desnos, Director of Bull's StoreWay Storage Division. "Our partner CommVault continues to innovate and enhance their leading Simpana platform, enabling us to respond to the evermore demanding operational challenges faced by our customers"
According to Steven Rose CommVault's vice president and general manager for EMEA, Simpana 9 software solves the real-world challenges of protecting and managing data stored in physical, virtual and cloud-based environments. "With our latest software release, we are removing the obstacles organizations face in trying to safeguard an explosion of data while providing them with the tools they need to address growing business demands. We're extremely pleased to leverage Bull's storage integration expertise and proven track record of customer success to further extend StoreWay Calypso's capabilities with increased virtualisation scalability and performance, universal deduplication and single policy-based operation for driving major improvements in IT agility, flexibility and efficiency."
