Data Base Security : Bull TrustWay Hardware Security Module Now Integrates with Oracle Advanced Security for Oracle Database 11g
The two companies are working together to offer customers robust technology for securing mission-critical information in ways that are virtually seamless with customers' operations
14, 2011 -
TrustWay, part of the Security Solution business line, specialist for information systems and communications security, announces that its hardware security module (HSM) TrustWay now integrates with Oracle Advanced Security solution for Oracle Database 11g.
Worldwide Oracle customers selecting TrustWay HSM will benefit from the latest security features including centralized encryption key management and storage in the encryption card of TrustWay box Common Criteria EAL4+ validated (encryption card using RSA 4096 bits or Elliptic Curve Cryptography 256 bits algorithms).
Using Oracle Advanced Security, data is transparently encrypted and decrypted within the Oracle Database without any change to existing applications.
"Organizations rely on Oracle Advanced Security for Oracle Database 11g to safeguard valuable information, help address regulatory requirements and mitigate risks," says Vipin Samar, Database Security Product Development vice-president, Oracle. "With widespread deployment of Transparent Data Encryption, centralized management of the database master encryption keys becomes essential."
"Integration with TrustWay HSM allows our security sensitive customers, government, critical infrastructure operators, and enterprises, to benefit from validated assurance encryption key management. It will provide organizations using Oracle Advanced Security with Oracle Database 11g to help meet today and tomorrow's data threats and compliance mandates," says Max Tu Ba, TrustWay Product Line Manager.
TrustWay-powered Oracle Database 11g solution is most commonly found in a number of repository management scenarios like
Common Criteria-compliant environments.
Governmental entities such as defence, interior, finance, health departments deploy encryption and key management as part of stringent internal security policies, and Common Criteria to EAL4+ level compliance is a requirement for these implementations. TrustWay HSM is validated to this level and helps protect PII, personally identifiable information, within public sector organizations.
Secure key management and encryption are the most challenging parts of data protection and compliance. The use of an HSM as a trusted platform in which keys can be securely created, used, managed and stored helps comply with these mandates.
Oracle Transparent Data Encryption is now supported by the TrustWay HSM to provide centralized key management. As critical policy enforcement points, TrustWay HSM can be used to establish strong authentication rules for administrators and dual control mechanisms for establishing shared responsibilities.
Data Bases Security and Scalability.
TrustWay provides a virtually seamless solution to manage the creation, storage, rotation (re-keying) of master encryption keys used by Oracle Transparent Data Encryption. This integration solves the management issues of centrally storing master encryption keys securely.
