Bull's bullion proves to be the fastest X86 enterprise server

Paris, July  7, 2011 -

The benchmark - which was run on a 16-socket configuration - highlights bullion's exceptional features. The bullion server clearly demonstrated its superior power compared with its competitors, also offering greater scalability and lower energy consumption.

bullion is more than twice as powerful as the fastest IBM System x3850 servers, and delivers 47% more power than the fastest of the HP DL980 G7 servers.

Compared with its competitors - IBM and HP servers equipped with Intel® processors - bullion provides energy efficiency from 33% to 100% higher (1).

The result posted by the bullion server is tangible proof of the extreme efficiency of its architecture and Bull Coherence Switch (BCS) technology; reassuring users of bullion servers that they are getting the full benefit of the power of the Intel® Xeon® processors.

published benchmark results on 6 July 2011

1. Fastest Bull X86 server: bullion with 16 x Intel® Xeon® 7560
2. Fastest HP X86 server: Proliant DL980 with 8 x Intel® Xeon® E7-8870
3. Fastest IBM X86 server: x3850-X5 with 8 x Intel® Xeon® 7550

Designed for the virtualization of critical enterprise applications and a smooth, secure transition towards private Cloud computing

The world's first to use native VMware technology, the bullion server was designed by Bull specifically for the virtualization of critical enterprise applications.
The key characteristics of this platform, especially its scalability and power, enable private Clouds to be built that bring together applications and databases within a Services-Oriented Architecture (SOA); a key component in data center transformation.

The BCS technology, designed by Bull, extends the capacity of bullion servers by equipping them with four or eight-socket configurations' even right up to 16 sockets. This means users can easily adapt their infrastructures to meet the ever-changing needs of applications operating in Cloud mode.
With this benchmark, bullion has clearly demonstrated its ability to provide a consolidation infrastructure by significantly reducing the number of physical servers in the data center, whilst also cutting energy consumption and simplifying the administration of large-scale data centers or private Cloud set-ups.
