COBOL-IT joins the Bull LiberTP ecosystem reducing costs for legacy transaction systems running on UNIX
12, 2010 -
COBOL-IT and Bull announce the availability of the COBOL-IT Compiler Suite Enterprise Edition with the Bull LiberTP transactional environment.
The COBOL-IT Compiler Suite is a complete environment consisting of a development environment and a COBOL compiler. With the COBOL-IT Compiler Suite, the costs associated with developing and maintaining transactional COBOL applications are greatly reduced.
Bull LiberTP allows enterprises to reduce the costs and risks associated with moving transactional applications from proprietary environment such as Oracle Tuxedo to more open and cost-effective environments. Savings achieved in the move to Open environments can be applied to new development projects aimed at the modernization of the applications.
With the integration of the COBOL-IT Compiler Suite, LiberTP brings customers a high performance COBOL compiler that they can use to modernize their legacy system. At the same time, COBOL-IT provides enterprises with a considerably lower total cost of ownership (TCO) for their legacy application.
Simplifying Enterprise Application Modernization
Building on its long-standing expertise, Bull has developed LiberTP, a transactional system that provides high levels of performance and security. The LiberTP solution ensures that enterprises will be able to extend the lives of their strategic, mission-critical applications, while taking advantage of new technologies.
Legacy applications can continue to benefit from the dependability of transactional environments, while leveraging technologies such as virtualized environments, mobile terminals, SOA architectures and Cloud Computing.
"With the integration of the COBOL-IT Compiler Suite, LiberTP adds to its transactional environment an enterprise-class Open Source compiler. Enterprises benefit from greater solutions to leverage the modernization of their application infrastructure, and to drastically reduce the recurring costs." said Sébastien Brachet, Sales Director of Bull LiberTP.
"What sets COBOL-IT Compiler Suite apart from other Open Source solutions from the COBOL world is its highly professional and structured organization, focused around solutions that have been fully validated and certified by the biggest players in the market," added Stéphane Croce, CEO of COBOL-IT."The Enterprise version of COBOL-IT is perfectly suited to Bull's LiberTP solution as it combines low cost, performance, robustness and interoperability to deliver the best combination of features with the only truly professional Open Source compiler on the market."
The COBOL-IT Compiler Suite is available with the Bull LiberTP environment starting in October, 2012.
