Bull expands its BEN Marine product range with new navigation instrument
12, 2014 -
Bull has announced the launch of the Aurea electromagnetic speed log, an instrument designed to calculate the speed of a ship. Compatible with the latest international standards, Aurea gives marine navigators very precise information about the speed of the boat on the high seas, so he or she can plan the best navigation and shipboard operations.
Aurea complies with international naval standards, as well as the new SOLAS MSC334 (90) standard applicable from July 2014 to vessels over 50,000 tonnes. This standard requires that the Speed Through Water (STW) and Speed Over Ground (SOG) are provided by two different systems. Aurea provides STW speed using an electromagnetic sensor, SOG from its GPS and positional information. Its multi-function display also shows the bearing and temperature.
Superseding the Anthea speed log, Aurea is compatible with all the sensors in the BEN Marine range, and will be available early 2015 from its network of specialized agents throughout the world. Philippe Duluc, Vice-President of the Security Division at Bull said: "BEN Marine has been at the forefront of marine technology for many years, with a strategy of constant innovation, offering the most effective products to its customers. Its expertise and experience are recognized worldwide. The forthcoming launch of Aurea demonstrates our ability to anticipate market requirements and international regulations."
